Who are the Shoulder People?
Uke Boy Slim (Joe) one of the areas most accomplished touring and recording keyboard sidemen (piano, organ, and accordion) who plays in several regional bands is featured in Shoulder People. Joe’s witty and intelligent writing is finally
being heard and appreciated. Because of his vast musical interests, his songs contain a rich harmonic and varied rhythmic structure. His origonal lead vocals and his 4 and 8 string uke playing add a unique flavor to the sound that is Shoulder People.
Richard William Lilly IV, aka Dick (Mark) though singing in choirs and choruses from a young age, did not pick up a guitar until he was 25. Now his solid and creative rhythm playing anchors the band allowing the other members the freedom to explore their artistic visions. Unsurpassed as a frontman, blending humor, wit, and his gregarious nature, he keeps the audience engaged and feeling at home. His wide vocal range and song writing ability are a highlight of Shoulder People’s repertoire.
Ty Dy Ed (John) has been a saxophone player in various jazz,
blues, and rock bands since the late 60’s. Now in Shoulder
People he brings a unique style and phrasing to his lead guitar
playing based on his experience as a section and solo sax player. He also contributes to their sound as a backup singer and song writer.
Sac (Ken) began playing at the age of 13 and played in bands including Jed and The John Dear Band. He eventually obtained a degree in music from Virginia Commonwealth University. He has played southern rock, country music, jazz and classical. He continues to write and perform, now bass with the Shoulder People.
